Heidi Bachert-Burke is an MBA instructor at the University of Canada West (UCW). She holds a Master of Arts in Political Economy and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in International Relations and Sociology. With over 25 years of corporate human resources and labour relations experience, she has spent most of her career in senior roles at the CBC in news, current affairs and multi-media platforms.
Since 2015, Heidi has been teaching courses in human resources, organizational behaviour, leadership, conflict management, and business management at UCW. She uses inductive teaching methods, such as inquiry and problem-based learning, and an interdisciplinary approach in her classes. She also provides practical and relevant insights on managing human resources, labour relations, and administrative activities in multiple domestic and international workplace locations, both unionized and non-unionized. She instructs in all seven Human Resources competency courses accredited by CPHR of BC & Yukon, as well as courses in Leadership Development, Conflict Management, Interpersonal Relations, and Business Management.
Heidi aims to help students develop deep critical thinking skills, and intellectual breadth, and promote the development of diverse perspectives and inclusive workplaces. She uses various methods to motivate students and develop their expertise in specific areas. She brings over 20 years of progressive knowledge and experience as a senior manager in human.
